a fun book for my toddler boy February 24, 2010

He really likes this book, probably because of its very large size and the really cool dinosaur illustrations/pictures. They look like pictures of realistic models; I'm not sure what they are, but they're very cool. The downside is that the common "garden-variety" dinosaurs (tyrannosaurus rex, allasaurus, brontosaurus, stegasaurus, etc) are not in this book. Instead, we meet many new & unusual dinosaurs with hard-to-pronounce names. I'm all for learning new names & new dinosaurs, and I think it's good for him to see the out-of-the-box world of dinosaurs, but it's a teency bit of a let down for him (he's 2) when he doesn't see the ones whose name he can say & with whom he is very familiar. We still like to read this together, after we've read the books with the more commonly known dinosaurs. Like I said, he loves the size & the fun pictures & the scary faces the dinos are making.

very good for my 4 year old grandson who loves dinosaurs. someone had got him the dinosaur encylopedia and it was over his head. he loves this book and has learned all the names.

Purchased My Big Dinosaur Book for my 3 year old grandson and decided to give it to my 6 year old nephew instead..... the pictures are so colorful and detailed, they were almost scary! Excellent book for anyone who is interested in all types of dinosaurs!

This book is good for first time dinosaur learner but if you're expecting to learn lots of vocab from this book, you will be disappointed. My 3 yr-old daughter loves this book since she's just got interested in dino stuff, but she and her younger sister likes to peel pages which means you're gonna have to own glue sticks and sticky tapes for repairing from time to time.
