Amazon.com Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs opens with the stitched-together prehistoric family about to become a biological one: Manny (voiced by Ray Romano) and his mate Ellie (Queen Latifah) are expecting a baby mammoth. Unfortunately, this makes Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) and Diego the saber-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) feel left out. Diego, who worries he’s losing his edge, decides to head out on his own, while Sid adopts three suspiciously large eggs that he’s found through a crack in the ice. Up to this point, the movie is perilously sappy--does anyone, particularly a kid, want to watch a kid’s movie about parenthood and impending middle age? Fortunately, the eggs turn out to be dinosaur eggs from a pre-mammalian underworld, and when the mama T-Rex comes to rescue her rambunctious little ones, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs transforms into a delightful comic adventure. The emotional side of the Ice Age movies has always been a tad mawkish, so it’s smart that Dawn of the Dinosaurs emphasizes physical comedy. Clearly, the animators have been inspired by a wild fusion of Road Runner cartoons and Buster Keaton. The character of Scratte, with his non-verbal, monomaniacal efforts to get that last acorn (doubled in this movie with the addition of a female counterpart), is only the most obvious reflection of this sensibility. The animators have great fun with the differences in scale between the mammals and the dinosaurs, and the introduction of a deranged Australian weasel named Buck (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead) pushes everything into Loony-Tune territory. Let Pixar tug at our heartstrings; Ice Age aims to tickle the funny bone and does a fine job of it. --Bret Fetzer

Hilarious for the entire family--best Ice Age so far! July 29, 2010 V. R. Hutter (Durham, NC) Wonderful and great clean fun for the entire family. I laughed out loud through out the movie--best one so far and they have all been funny. I can't wait until Ice Age 4 comes out---and I don't have any young kids to watch it with me!
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - DVD July 27, 2010 Buffdaddy Bill (Oakdale, MN) Directed by: Carlos Saldanha
Starring: Ray Romano, Denis Leary
Running time: 94 min. PG - 2009
As someone who is at home with three kids I have to watch a lot of children's programming and that includes movies. Some are bad, some are tolerable and others are actually good. The movie "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" falls into the latter category. Ray Romano and the rest of the cast return for the third entry in the "Ice Age" series as the mammoths are expecting a baby along with discovering dinosaurs in the lost world. The movie is highly entertaining for kids as well as adults. Simon Pegg plays a weasel who steals the show. The scenes with Scrat and the acorn seem a bit drawn out but still funny. I recommend this movie especially if you have kids and even as an adult you will enjoy it.
Just fun.
Awesome Movie!!! July 12, 2010 C. McNeil (Colorado USA) I just Love watching all of the Ice Age Movies. I'm never let down. Worth owning.
A good note to finish on July 6, 2010 Don't tread on me (North Carolina, USA) If this is the final Ice Age movie, it would be a good way complete the story line. I would rate it 4.5 stars if it was possible.
The story is pretty good. The usual characters are all in true form. Sid is a bit more annoying than previous movies, but hey, he's Sid. The storyline of the dinosaurs is done pretty well. The humor is a bit more subdued than the previous two. One reviewer said that they are crude 1-liners. However, I have never considered the Ice Age movies for small children. This one is definitely not for small kids. This movie ends on a fairly final note, so I don't think there will be any others. If there are no more, this one does finish out the story on a good ending.
Cool June 30, 2010 David A. Smith (Webberville, Mi, USA) This is a great movie all of your favorite characters are back in this third installment of the series. this movie rocks
