Pleasantly surprised July 27, 2010 Lea S (Georgia, USA) I know the reviews said these dinos were a treat to behold but seriously wow! Even peering into the Rex's mouth there is not an unfinished edge, spot, cranny, anywhere. He looks perfect throughout, Papo did not spare a detail.
I bought this guy as well as the stegosaurus and triceratops for my son's 3rd bday, and yes before you collectors grimmace in disgust and horror, they're still in perfect condition despite my almost 2 yo daughter also playing with them daily. I am so pleased with these, I look forward to adding to my son's collection as more holidays come to pass.
Thought I would also mention that they're nice and soft and not a hazard of hurting little ones by rough play. I was concerned about the edges on the stego and triceratops.
Impressive Quality July 12, 2010 M. Wang It's rare that a product exceeds expectations. With this Papo Tyrannosaur, however, that's exactly what happened. I bought this as a gift for my 5-year-old nephew, who was having a dinosaur themed birthday. Given the other reviews, I already had decent expectations, which made it all the more impressive that this product exceeded them. My nephew was quite excited with the Tyrannosaur, and despite his parents' initial hesitation, he has been allowed to have the toy with him in bed at night. Apparently the vicious nature of the Tyrannosaur makes him feel safe from anything else that might scare him! The rubbery material used to make the product means it is both durable and safe for a 5-year-old to play with. I saw him banging and stabbing the T-Rex, which seemed to hold up with no problem.
Despite my nephew's enthusiasm for the toy, I'm quite certain it cannot match my own enthusiasm. The detail and accuracy is amazing. Upon seeing the product first-hand I decided I had to have my own. It turns out the model makes for a great subject for photography, especially experimenting with different light setups. The Tyrannosaur is fun to photograph, and will likely prove an invaluable reference for modeling a computer model of the animal in MAYA. I also purchased the Allosaurus, as the reviews for that product were equally impressive, if not more so. I hope to have both soon.
T-REX May 14, 2010 Red One (Washington, DC) even with a moving part, I don't see this being damaged anytime soon and will provide a lot of fun for a long time to a small boy that loves dinos
So Detailed... February 1, 2010 Janette K. Borland (spokane, wa) I am only reviewing per the feedback from my son. This was shipped direct as a gift for my grandson. My son says this dino was so very detailed ... it was scary. Not a bad thing, after all, it's a dino. I was shopping for figures with life-like details to feed my grandson's passion for dinosaurs. Very happy with all the dinos purchased thru Amazon for my grandson's collection, but I think this one is my favorite.
Great Craftmanship January 8, 2010 J. Schmidt These are REALLY well done pieces. I guess technically they are toys but since they have no moving parts except their jaws and are posed in a cinematic action quality, I'd really just consider them very nicely priced collectibles. If you are a fan of Jurassic Park, or just dinosaurs in general, both the raptor and t-rex look straight out of The Lost World. Way better looking than any actual JP toy. And these cheap, mass-produced little toys put my 250 dollllar SideShow Collectibles Jurassic Park Diorama to shame. The paint job on that looks almost like a happy meal toy compared to these.
However, the paint app on the t-rex isn't quite as good as the picture, but it still looks great. And to anyone complaining about the inaccurate posture: if you put some padding on the back of the heels the t-rex stands up with its tail off the ground in a nearly exact replica of the tyrannosaurus's final pose in Jurassic Park after defeating the raptors and letting out an I AM THE CHAMPION roar. Definite recommendation for any dino fan.
